Global News: Global Game Jam Kolkata 2026 – Creativity, Tech & Brotherhood Unite in the World’s Largest Indie Game Jam
Kolkata, India – Global Game Jam Kolkata 2026 has officially kicked off as one of the most anticipated creative technology events of the year! Anchored in the ethos of innovation, inclusivity, and global collaboration, this edition is part of the Global Game Jam (GGJ 2026) — the world’s largest independently organized game jam spanning 800+ sites in 132+ countries and expected to surpass 500,000 lifetime participants this year.
Hosted at the Red Apple Technologies production house (a cutting-edge 12,000 sq ft facility at Mani Casadona, Newtown, Kolkata) the Kolkata leg of GGJ is 3x bigger and more dynamic than the previous years, reaffirming the city’s rising footprint in the global game development ecosystem.
Organized by Red Apple Learning in partnership with Scope Gaming Community, the event is a powerhouse of collaboration where creativity and technology converge to inspire future gaming innovators.
Adding momentum to the event’s success, Pranabes Chandra, Owner of Chandracon Media Solutions, joins as an Official Sponsor, alongside community-driven platform PlayzHub, bringing strategic backing that fuels opportunity and connectivity for participants.
Global Scale, Local Impact

This year’s GGJ Kolkata site has welcomed a phenomenal mix of students and creators from institutions across India and beyond — including Swami Vivekananda University, Adamas University, Techno India, NIT Rourkela, Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Christ University, Arizona State University, IIT Patna, IIT Kharagpur, Calcutta University, B P Poddar Institute, IGNOU, Utkal University, VIT Bhopal, Nirma University, and many more — fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and skills exchange.
With participants hailing from such a diverse constellation of colleges and creative backgrounds, the event embodies more than a hackathon — it’s a celebration of innovation, inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and brotherhood, where every voice adds value and every idea has the potential to thrive.
Leadership & Recognition
Special appreciation goes to Vivek Jha, Regional Organizer of Global Game Jam – India, whose exceptional leadership and unwavering support have been instrumental in scaling the event and empowering local organizers to deliver excellence.
Looking Forward: Build, Learn, Connect
